Population of Ilha Brava Faces Water Supply Crisis
Ilha Brava is facing a water supply crisis, with several localities having been without a supply for more than a week. The Águabrava company is working to solve the problem and a desalination project is under development to resolve the issue in the long term.

The population of Ilha Brava is expressing growing concern due to the water shortage that has been affecting several localities for more than a week. Residents report that the interruption in supply has caused serious inconvenience, especially for farmers and livestock breeders.
João da Luz, a resident of Mato Grande, said that in January water was only distributed twice, and that in February they have already been without a supply for two weeks. António Lopes, from Cova Rodela, pointed out that the lack of water has damaged crops and animals, as well as having a negative impact on the daily lives of the inhabitants.
The Águabrava company, responsible for supplying water on the island, acknowledged the historical challenges related to water availability in the region. Ilda Solidade, the company's representative, explained that a recent electrical breakdown had contributed to the delay in distribution, but assured that pumping operations had resumed and that efforts were being made to normalize the supply.
As a long-term solution, a seawater desalination project is underway and is expected to be completed soon. This initiative aims to provide quality water in sufficient quantity for the entire population of the island, addressing the problems of water scarcity once and for all.
